Jun. 5–Wilson Energy customers will get some relief with a 5 percent decrease in the electric rate.

City Manager Grant Goings recommended the decrease to the Wilson City Council Friday that will go into effect in 10 days, if the council agrees.

"We have attempted to recommend a rate reduction that can be long standing, absent any unforeseen wholesale rate increases from NCEMPA and we remain optimistic that we may be in a position to make further recommendations in the future," Goings said.
