Even though Patsy Keever isn’t one of them, there are several good candidates running for NCDP Chair.
I can’t remember when we’ve had this many candidates and this much diversity.
But, in the end—members of the SEC can only vote for one Chair. I’d like to see that vote go to Janice Covington Allison.
It takes guts and determination to put yourself out in public for this race. And, Janice has certainly taken her fair share of hits for coming forward and running.
Recently, at an AAC in Charlotte, two women were standing outside as people went into the building—calling Janice “nothing more than a crossdresser.”
And, just yesterday—Keever put her foot in her mouth once again by telling a reporter that her incident of calling Janice ‘a man’ was blown out of proportion and was much ado about nothing.
Janice has since called for Keever to resign.
I doubt Keever will do that—especially since she has former Gov. Jim Hunt making phone calls for her. To me, that’s just another reason to question the interworking and back stories of Keever—at least as it relates to this specific election.
Make no mistake about it: Janice Covington has been slighted and dismissed by the same groups who purport to embrace and champion her causes and issues.
The way she’s been treated by the LGBT and Equality NC proves to me they have their hidden agenda in this election.
I, personally, will never give another dollar or support the activities of theses two groups as long as Ryan Butler and Chris Sgro are running the show. And, I hope you will do likewise.
So, I would call on the SEC to vote for Janice Covington. I know commitments have been made—but I also know nothing is set in stone.
Do the right thing—for the right reasons.
